Where I am
I’m currently a web producer for Cycle World Magazine in Newport Beach, CA. I’m responsible for content management, image editing and search engine optimization (SEO). It’s an awesome place to work… the latest motorcycles parked out front, gear strewn throughout the office and the coolest guys writing/talking everything bikes.
Where I’ve been
My current storyline began when I was laid off from my job in April 2010. Although it was tough to accept at that time, as the old cliché goes, it was a blessing in disguise. If not for that event, I wouldn’t have found my new career path in web analytics. Prior to Cycle World, I was mainly a web designer/front-end developer so this was a pretty radical change for me.
Where I’m going
To help with my SEO studies, I’ve been accepted as an SEO Intern at Media Cause. It’s a wonderful organization because they’re willing to help with your SEO studies. And, in exchange for that help, you then give back to a number of non-profits who need SEO assistance.
Finally, I’ve just enrolled in the Web Analytics Program at The University of British Columbia. It’s a big challenge to return to “student” mode but I’m focused and ready.
Connecting
I’m still new to blogging, social media and “being out there” on the web. I’ve always been a private person so a lot of this is somewhat uncomfortable to me. I’d always try something, push a bit forward and then take two steps back. This is the first time I’m putting myself out there and taking the attitude of “let the chips fall where they may.” I’m out there at the usual spots: Twitter, LinkedIn and Flickr (I’m not on Facebook at the moment).
Thanks for visiting and please feel free to contact me if you have any questions, comments or just want to say hey!
Here’s a pic that will hopefully put a smile on your face. Enjoy!
